We Need Your Support Now More Than Ever
Did you know the simple act of petting a dog can have significant benefits on mental and physical well-being? During these unprecedented times we can all use some of that.
Your contributions have helped The Calais School harness this phenomenon to develop an Animal Assisted Interventions (AAI) Program designed to help children with serious learning disabilities and socialization challenges feel safe, secure, and empowered.
Currently our AAI dogs facilitate occupational therapy, counseling, speech & reading, and socialskills building. To date we have seen major breakthroughs in student motivation, compliance and participation during therapeutic sessions.
“. . . the AAI dogs gave my son a new perspective and helped him focus on school. He would focus for a whole session of speech or an activity. The AAI Program is a great program which I hope continues and expands.” -Angela E., parent of a Calais School student
Your donation is critical to securing additional AAI handlers and dogs so we can support more students. Your pledge will also allow us to implement new modalities including crisis management, Animal Assisted Medical Education, physical therapy, and virtual access.
Thank you for your generosity and support!
